Special educators provide specialized instruction to students with disabilities to ensure their access to the general education curriculum. Self-regulated strategy development (SRSD) is an evidence-based instructional framework that can be used for instruction in multiple academic areas. This article contains a description of the SRSD framework, descriptions, and examples of specific academic strategies for writing, reading, and mathematics within the SRSD framework. A discussion of how to maximize SRSD by implementing it across reading, writing, and mathematics instruction is included.
